We keep our ear to the ground to uncover the newest advancements in HVAC technology. It’s important to us that we are able to offer the most efficient and affordable products to our customers.
Some of you may have read about one of those advancements – the ductless mini split– and wondered if this type of system may be the future of the HVAC industry. While we aren’t sure the answer to that question, we can tell you that a ductless system may be the perfect solution to your heating or cooling problem.
A ductless mini split (or “mini split”) is a heating and cooling system that doesn’t require the use of ducts or a window to regulate the temperature of a room. While we are excited to recommend mini splits to some of our customers, they are not a replacement for a traditional HVAC system.
The heating and cooling needs vary depending upon your region. In the Midwest, ductless minis have proven useful in basements, garages, sheds, sunrooms, and home additions.
There are many benefits of using a ductless mini split system. Here are some reasons such systems have been called the “future of HVAC.”
One of the most exciting uses for ductless HVAC systems is that they can supply more direct heating and cooling to the rooms a homeowner occupies the most.
Think about it – a traditional HVAC system forces air to travel through extensive ductwork. As a result, air is lost along the way, and unoccupied rooms are heated and cooled. A ductless system will heat or cool the rooms where you spend the most time. In fact, you may indulge in a more comfortable temperature for those rooms because you know that raising or lowering the thermostat won’t make a significant difference in your energy bills.
Besides maintaining the room temperature, ductless mini splits also filter the air of allergens, dust, pet dander, and other airborne nuisances. Of course, you’ll need to change the system’s filter periodically.
Ductless mini-splits are one of the quietest HVAC systems available. So you’ll be able to enjoy tranquil moments in your “she shed” without having to endure the loud rumble of a window unit.
Please understand that ductless systems still require professional installation.
